tuning up your bird dog
I have a four year old shorthair. I have hunted him since before he was a year old. I have been running him twice a week for the last couple of weeks and will be increasing that to three times per week through November. Once/week I train him in the water. I will also be throwing him 3-5 bumpers a day on the week days through October. Do any of you have any other suggestions as to how else I might want to tune up my dog for the upcoming pheasant season. I also enjoy duck hunting. Any ideas on getting him use to the duck calls and being in the blind? I appreciate any advise.

Re: tuning up your bird dog
You might want to try adding a labrador retriever to your collection for duck hunting!
